Thoughts are Things

There are always inklings all around us. Some tell us what we should or need to do. Inklings remind us what we did wrong and keep on reminding us. Inklings are so important and yet we ignore them. We invite fear and failure for tea. I read this book on Friday and this line about building a desire and planning for it in a way that doesn’t recognize fear or failure is the key to success. Then there are these inklings that remind us of love and the power it bestows on any of circumstances…if we follow the right INKLINGS.  Imagine all of the people who were surrounded by inklings they didn’t even acknowledge. These inklings are far too great and far to WONDERFUL.

Little WONDERFUL INKINGS this week:

-the book I read and the beautiful line

-the plans I made

-the trees I am painting and more importantly the way I felt as I painted them

-f… wait what’s it called again.

-love wins

-everybody hurts

-you can be of them or of yourself

if you don’t like your life then create a new one

-keep mixing wonderful color

-Obsession is key because it leads to all the help and guidance you  need.

Imagine all the impossibilities that are possible.

Painting a tree with a sponge brush

I am so glad I MADE this awesome brush.  I saw this fantastic brush and I wanted to make one a whole lot smaller. I had this old sponge brush and a fabulous idea…LOVE WHEN THAT HAPPENS!

I used a little yellow and green acrylic paint. Did I mix in tempera paint? I may have. All I know is I applied the paint in layers. First yellow and then green. I wanted to build up contrast and get these various tones of green. I applied paint and magic happened…this breeze and the yellow just gives it a warm carefree rhythm. I love it. Another tree for the wise trees book.

V tree

I simply had an idea and 15 minutes later it turned out BRILLIANT! More trees to paint and …WAIT A MINUTE… I should continue this mixed media exploration for the next book side project. YES I shall paint fabulous animal characters for my Ana Bee and George Bird book. Sounds like a fabulous idea. I love working on art and there’s NOTHING in the world I’d rather do and I love so much! Thank goodness for that!!

Imagine all the impossibilities that are possible.

Splish Splash Pink Tree

This is by far the best tree I have painted.   This color is awesome and it’s the perfect lipstick color.

There I was on a Sunday afternoon thinking about what technique I’d use for my pink tree. Then I came across a blogger friend who painted this WONDERFUL tree and that was it. I had myself an idea. Thoughts are things. Yet another example that thoughts can lead you to what you need and WANT. Here we are. The perfect idea to paint the pink tree for my book.

I got my size 10 brush–the biggest round brush I had. I got out my tempera paint and magenta ink and mixed the perfect PINK. I had some old paint left over and threw that in the mix too. I was both excited and had no clue what I was going to do, but I knew it was going to be awesome. I did a combination of splashing dots on the paper in a tree shape. Then I blotted here and there adding various tones of pink. Oh my goodness using pink’s complementary which is green helped make the most wonderful brown. I mixed up the paint and created various transparencies and what a wonderful contrast.

What I LOVE ABOUT THIS TREE IS THAT I borrowed someone’s idea but I applied my own ideas to make it my magnificent tree. Halfway through I contemplated starting over but as I painted I visualized the image of a beautiful tree and in the end I painted it. That’s right! Can’t wait to keep painting these trees. Now let me go edit the words.

Imagine all the possibilities that are possible.

A LOve Story

Yeah in the words of what I just read a while ago, a REAL love story is imperfect, incomplete and oh there will be tears. This is a poem I’ve been holding on to for a long LONG time……and I sat there working on it for hours-not all at once but I did.

LOVE POEM I finally got it just right. The words are just right!

lovestory  I PUT ON SOME MUSIC.  The song Life is Worth Living song. An unexpected love from an unexpected artist. The words of Oprah played next, just as doubt showed up–nonetheless. All I knew was the time is now. What do you know I WROTE IT and I love the way it is. I changed a few words BUT it’s a smile and it FEELS. The poem is ready but now I have this idea to create the poem in various colors too.

Can’t wait to add this in my threadless shop.

Imagine all the impossibilities that are possible.

Clever Painting Brush

Sometimes I see trees and imagine that MAYBE the leaves of a tree are just it’s hair. Trees must need their leaves like we need our hair. I smile and the tree smiles back. The warm sun and the breeze come along for the ride. This sounds CRAZY I know,  but maybe I have a gift for IMAGINATION that I shouldn’t hide

YES, this is going to look great in my book…one page of the many trees I will paint. And all it took was a walk, my imagination, some paint and a size 10 round brush.  I press here and there and everywhere. Wow this looks amazing! Adding a teal tempera paint made the whole tree pop. I love it!!!

Imagine all the impossibilities that are impossible because I’m doing it right now!

is like beauty in  the eye of the beholder. Brilliant is an idea that makes you light up and  say YES I am painting this. Brilliant is you did it without doubt. Brilliant is the idea that lives inside you. Brilliant is the mistakes you make and then say oh WOW wait a minute here’s what I can do next time. Brilliant is a smile right when you need it. Brilliant is this very word that made me write all of this when I needed it the most.

Note to Self

What’s going on in your heart and in your mind? Okay so the Tale of Ana Bee and George Bird isn’t going to be told anytime soon.  Keep drawing and that way you’ll have had time to draw they way you draw at your absolute very best. Oh but the Wise Tree book sounds like a great idea! What a great idea to paint trees and use all kinds of mixed media to learn about color and most importantly play, explore and keep creating. That original date of having it in hand reading it for Read Across America week seems feasible.

Open up a threadless shop and share your art? What? A Myra original on a zip bag or a poster leaves lots of room for possibilities. It began this whole real possibility of lots of side projects. Each small project is a good step in saying yes I can do that. The love theme is something personal and filled with projects created with simple paint and an idea. Nothing else but an idea. Keep on creating and keep on enjoying the process. Stand tall and keep painting trees…paint what you want.

Nurture your talent. Don’t make or break the rules JUST BE YOURSELF.

Could I paint with a Q-tip?

I’ll say!

So glad I saw this on You Tube! The idea was that you take a bunch of Q-tips and wrap them up together with a big rubber band. So you use this new Q-tip brush to then dip in paint to create instant awesome flowers.

I love the idea but I didn’t feel like wasting a bunch of Q-tips. I didn’t want to paint flowers BUT I want to paint trees. I have lots of trees to paint for my new side project– Wise Trees.  I had an idea.  I simply mix-up tempera red and white, a little water and a touch of pink watercolor of course.  Maybe some brown, just to create a warm pink.

Okay so that didn’t go well. Wait, the color is fabulous but the branches are WAY to thick and heavy.  No need to mention that I didn’t blend the paint on the branches or the trunk right. Besides, the pink here is so pretty. I can’t get over how pretty my pink is.  And with the shade of brown…wish is worked out.  Well I do have lots more paint.

Alright so here we go. Not the same wonderful color but still a beauty. I painted the tree with a marker. I colored with a marker then applied water with a paint brush. Not bad. I LOVE the idea of using mixed media to practice my art skills and at the same time focus on a project like my book. Wise Trees is an amazing book that combines my love of nature, painting and writing.

Next week I’ll paint more trees and tackle the love poem. I keep writing. Oh the frustration but I have fun.  Oh and I’ll be working on a pink tree. Maybe the Q-tip idea will work for my tree after all?
