Painting with melted crayon

The best part of painting with melted crayons is you have to work super fast! There’s no time to think. You have to paint and PAINT before the crayons dry up. I planned everything out before I melted the crayons.  There’d be two projects. I’d paint a tree and a quote. I love this idea of painting with melted crayons and wish I could work fast enough to write a quote- but that didn’t go to well. It sure was fun exploring! The other project…well a tree for the wise trees book!

Choose color

Melt the crayons and work fast.

The green melted great! The pink well not so great. Guess that means it’s time to toss these crayons. Oh but I DO HAVE AN IDEA FOR THE WHITE CRAYONS AND COME TO THINK OF IT A floral design I want to redo!

Paint

So glad I used paint brush soap to coat my brushes before I painted with them. I don’t know. I simply painted because I new I had to work fast.  A texture I came across on Instagram entered my mind as I kept painting. Or did I paint and realize I’d seem this before? Hope this is one of those steal like an artist moments.  Yes.  And I love this BOOK too!  This was so awesome! Doesn’t look much like a tree but in my mind it’s a beautiful sideways tree. I did see it once!

Here it is and I love it! For sure going to include this in my trees book.

Oh right I will be spending this weekend getting the pictures ready. Can’t wait to add this to my threadless shop but first I will clean it up.

Imagine all the impossibilities that are possible.

Finger Painting With Acrylic and Watercolor

I’m looking for a cool background or pattern for my poems and quotes.

I’ve been playing with acrylic paint and watercolor of course.

acrylic paint stripe background

You’ve seen the one with crayola here Note to self, paint more of these. There’s something about mixing color that excites me. You add color and drop it on the page like this and spread it. There’s no structure. The paint just takes on a life of it’s own.  I love that.

IMG_20170519_131004_277[1]

I love dropping drops of paint and then using a flat brush to spread the paint in a horizontal motion. Use my  finger prints to create a pattern? Yes I will try that next time!

Instead I got this quote in my head and why not play around with it.

IMAG0076[1]

Oh dear I need more space! Oh but I do love this idea! I love the color. I used the dot method to grab a couple of colors and then paint….looks awesome but I want to go back to the drawing board with this one.

Here it is! Yes I am also testing different paper and this is a store paper bag. The purple paint is done in acrylic and the dots were done with watercolor paint.

Put your stamp on the world

I’m still going to try the fingerprint pattern.

Imagine all the impossibilities that are possible!

Mosaic Watercolor Masterpiece

That’s the crazy wonderful thing about freedom…you are free to create what you want.  That’s a big question and a scary responsibility.

Oh but imagine all the WONDERFUL impossibilities that ARE possible.

I had to think up a good quote.  I wanted the word masterpiece to be a mosaic. I love Eric Carle’s collage art. I’m encouraged every time I read the Hungry Caterpillar to a classroom of 1st grades.  We get excited EVERY time.  From collage art to the BIG idea that art can be anything you want it to be, I’m amazed!

A True Artist Quote

Let yourself go. Go Mad. Go Bonkers. Lose Yourself.

I love the color and that the words freedom, creates and masterpiece all create a movement leading from one to another. This love wouldn’t have happened without the entire process of letting yourself go. I had an idea and started with a color palette that best expressed my idea. I mixed up the colors and oh the color in the word creates happened! I probably need to rework the freedmom color them. I will. Let’s do add that to my claendar.

Losing yourself helps you find yourself.

Just now as I uploaded the picture I can see the promise of this piece. I’m in love with the idea and the mosaic just takes my breath away. Let’s be honest my heart aches because I see that I need to focus on the nitty-gritty of pulse and precision. I mean the color scheme is to die for but, the smudges and the staying in the lines… oh I get so excited. I know I have awesome ideas. No one will ever know how awesome they are, if I don’t work on the skill. At least I know what needs working and what doesn’t. Let’s work on the quote. Let’s paint!

I’d Rather Write With a Lipstick

I like to wear lipstick BUT there’s something incredible that happens when I write with a lipstick. I’ve done this before with an AVON lip balm a long time ago –out of pure curiosity.

There’s something about the texture that I love. Look at the chunk pieces and the color! I’m in love. Well more in love.

Seems crazy to want to write with a lipstick.  Or does it? One day in a classroom, I found this perfect shade of lipstick- only it was paint.  This lipstick idea popped in my head again and here we are. I used variations of red and pink. Oh I love the color. Which by the way isn’t easily noticeable, but if you look closely the beauty’s there.

0418170934

At first I felt this urgency.  I was on a lunch break and literally only 5 minutes left. I made a few mistakes. Wait these little mistakes are fabulous- for the point I’m making. Is pretty perfect? No! We sometimes allow ourselves to be fooled by photoshop. In my case all the little perfect imperfections created by my brush.  Let’s move on to the real topic here.

Beauty is on the inside. That beauty shines through so bright on the outside. Yes lipstick helps you shine brighter. Nothing wrong with that. At a first glance this is messy and not necessarily pretty or beautiful. Then I kept looking at the color and the brush strokes here and there. That was BEAUTIFUL! That brought me to this whole notion of what beauty is. We see with our eyes and that can blind us.

A few days later I saved a lifeless tube of lip gloss. Again the color is off but that’s okay. I just bought a scanner. I now have and awesome idea to keep me practicing!

All this led to this quote. Obviously, this is a rough sketch

Drawing a horse is hard

PERFECT IDEA! Watch a You Tube video and in eight minutes Ill have drawn an awesome horse. It  turns out drawing a horse is a whole lot harder than I thought. Not worries I just need more practice.

Yes drawing a horse shape by shape makes so much more sense. YEAH, my horse is funny looking. I stated drawing the two circles and thought yeah okay this is easy I got this and and all of a sudden …I don’t know what happen to the horse. The smaller horse on top looks better for a second drawing. Now all I have to do is draw this  until it looks like the horse I want it too.

1121161116f1I had an idea for the layout and everything.

1121161116g1

I’m putting this in the awesome keep working on it pile. Yes I love the Just word being made in the sky with thee string of a kite and stay tuned for this idea.

BUT wait I have to paint something for the class project. I worked on some new techniques here and love the tree. Yes there are some issues with the textures and of course the spacing with the  lettering. I really need to practice lettering with paint.

Note to self. Keep working and eventually you got this!

Try New Tools?

Funny story. As I was painting this and blowing away at the paint to create hay hands, feet and hair for my scarecrow,  I had watchers laughing at me. I thought about this and yes it does look funny as I’m doing it. I had such a fun time doing this.

This is a a work in progress. Not sure what quote to add here. I was thinking about how a scarecrow just stands there and doesn’t say or do much. BUT scarecrows have a big job and they do it well.

I painted color of cheer, happy and just friendship.

11141615221

Well that’s it for now. I am working on much more. See you next week! Try using a straw and create something. I have used a straw to paint a scarecrow and  a sun. What else can I create?  Let me think on it for a while.

Straw It With Watercolor

Supplies: a straw and my new watercolor palette by Crayola.

I really love this set. Reminds me of painting in elementary school. I found this awesome idea  from a skillshare class. Let’s see what idea do I want to express? You are my sunshine…YES

I was thinking of the sunshine that shines so bright even on dark days : painting, and an awesome song, spending time with those you love and so on.  Sunshine is what helps life grow. Art helps me grow. The thought of others growing too is even better!

First choose the right color. Honey and warm yellows. What about a touch of pretty pink? Paint your  image with lots of water for this activity.

You take your straw and place it over  the wet area and blow. You blow in any direction you want.I blew outward to create beautiful rays of sunshine. Dark days  sometimes happen but you can always have sunshine. I’m working on the lettering layout .

Swim & Flow

swim flow

You have to put yourself out there and Swim and just keep swimming. You also have to enjoy every moment of it and flow. Flow like the easy breezy current. Flow without a care in the world. Flow like you always know that we are all the same. I mean sure you and I are different but that’s what makes me awesome. Yes you are awesome too and that is the point. This is what I wanted to capture in this painting. It’s like the 5th time I paint this idea. My idea gets better every time!

I love LOVE art and love sharing with you. I will be taking a week off to really work on my blog. I will be working on my art of course, but just need some time to swim and flow. I need to really think about my blog and give it the voice and professionalism it deserves. I write from the heart. I draw from the heart. I just want to let the kid play. I named this blog little lemonade for the spirit of playing and putting up a lemonade stand.  Remember that. I want to go back to a simpler time filled with the drawing and painting.  I appreciate the club and how we have grown. I appreciate every one of you!

I will be back August 8th. I will start with the school days lettering series.

I will have a short post next week on the updates and a little preview of what’ s to come.

Thanks see you friends!

Imagine the Possibilities

0722161050[1]

I went to the festival and It was so amazing to see so many artists. As I looked at all of the colors, shapes and textures I giggle smiled. What’s a giggle smile you may ask? Ever see a kid  walking along and all of a sudden see a giant gumball machine. With a smile and giggle they want a quarter and are itching to turn the knob!

I have and I was that kid too.

I had to draw it. I drew this quick but its an idea!

0723161144b[1]

You have to imagine and dream like Walt Disney. You have to explore what makes you giggle smile. It sounds silly but so true.  The more you explore you realize that everything and anything is possible. This is true with education and art. Then I started thinking about last week’s influence map.

How can I create art with my style and tell my story?  I now understand that the point of these awesome characters like Amelia Bedelia and Pippi Longstocking is to JUST BE, relax, have fun and play.  Plus I can surround myself with what I love and that will somehow indirectly show itself in my art. Yes I can reference  Pippi isms like her love for the word spunk. I much rather capture  the spirit, curiosity, spirit and individuality that she is. Why? Pippi and Amelia remind me of growing up.  Plus everything is best done with love.

Here is one idea!

0723161145b[1]

Right now I am loving art.  This idea is a fun way to say follow your purpose and you just know when you know that something like your dream is meant to be right?   I am ready world and you better be ready too! I am giggle smiling.

What about the design elements I have been learning? Oh these have given me tons of possibilities too.

I have been able to go from this

Imagination helps you push past the impossibles and keep learning and discovering.

You are going to see lots more projects and lots more exploring. You work on your projects too and share them.

Oh in case you are wondering I have changed my posting schedule to Saturday. Coming August 18th I will start working on back to school lettering projects. If you are interested then be sure to like this post.

Now if only I could take better pictures.

See you soon!

Fully Painted

Tools: watercolor paint and a little acrylic for the mistakes I made

Thoughts: Gosh I realize that you have to take your time and there’s so much to just painting.

Do I want to be an impressionist and focus on painting what I see and more importantly what’ s in my heart? Yes I really like this approach.  I love color and I do like the color I came up with here. Bubbles need work.

Yes I wasn’t so happy with the bubbles and…

I think I like these colors more
